Diving in the Caribbean

Because diving is among the best in the world in the Caribbean, it is a huge part of what many of the charter yachts do here. There are hundreds of dive sites, featuring everything from world renowned shipwrecks, to living coral reefs. The comfortable, bath-like temperature of the azure blue water makes diving low-stress for experienced and beginners alike.

Most of our yachts offer at least some type of diving, whether onboard or rendezvous, many of the captains and/or crew are divemasters, instructors or both with often thousands of dives under their belts. They are able to qualify divers of all levels, if there's interest. For instruction or qualification, there is a fee about which we will inform you, once you've chosen your yacht.

If diving is available onboard, it is usually included in the rate, again, we will inform you.

Notable Dives

RMS Rhone Wreck Dive-Intermediat-Advanced--One of the world's best wreck dives iis also a National Park. This was a 310' 1865 Royal Mail Steamship, which sank October 29, 1867 in a terrible hurricane with 300 passengers and crew. Only 1 passenger and 22 seamen lived. Scenes from the movie, "The Deep" were filmed here, off of a point of Salt Island in the BVI. Ask your captain to pull out his copy of the movie the night before the dive. Tons of fish, including nesting sergeant majors, and squirrelfish, plus colorful corals, sponges, lobsters, and Caribbean reef sharks are here. Look for a pair of big barracuda called "Fang" and "Fred". The ship features swimthroughs and is large enough for two or more dives.

The Indians--Intermediate to Advanced dive located off Norman Island, otherwise known as "Treasure Island" where four rocky pinnacles break the surface. Divers find nice black tree coral, colorful sponges, big pelagic fishes and hawksbill turtles.
